It wasn't there before, right? \"\u00a0<br \/>\"No ... never seen before...\u00a0Look, another one! What the hell is it?? \"\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The invasion has begun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maybe someone had already heard about it, most people didn't even know who he is, for sure\u00a0today in Ravenna everybody knows Invader and his global scale project Space Invaders.\u00a0<br \/>The installation project started in Paris, the city\u00a0of the artist, in 1998 and then it spread worldwide 'infecting' the cities by art and color.\u00a0<br \/>Invader, who always works hidden by a mask, identifies densely populated areas and invades them\u00a0with works in extremely weather resistant mosaic ceramic tiles.\u00a0<br \/>The installations are inspired by the characters of\u00a0video game <strong>Space Invaders<\/strong>, small creatures made\u00a0of pixels at low resolution and therefore particularly suitable for implementation with the mosaic\u00a0technique.\u00a0Today the repertoire of creatures installed by Invader includes characters that distances from those\u00a0invented by Taito such as trees, mermaids, flowers, cartoon characters etc.<\/p>\n<p>But what is the purpose of the invasion?\u00a0As told by Invader in an interview, the project of\u00a0invasion aims at <strong>liberating art<\/strong> from all that tends\u00a0to alienate it, as sometimes do museums and institutions. \u00a0It's a work in movement, where new pieces are constantly\u00a0created, generally positioned at strategic points\u00a0of the city with the aim of continually surprising\u00a0its audience.\u00a0<br \/>It's also a project in which it's given life and freedom to Space Invaders, making them exit from the\u00a0game and taking them to the streets of the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Wave II\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p>\"There's also Theodora!\"\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Invader is back.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Many cities have been invaded before Ravenna and I\u00a0really wonder why he waited so long before\u00a0landing in the world capital of mosaics! There could be no more suitable place of our city for this\u00a0form of contemporary street art mosaic.\u00a0Sure enough in 2015, just one year after its first\u00a0invasion, Invader is back to free his creatures on\u00a0the\u00a0walls of Ravenna. The second 'Wave' reveals a greater awareness of the artist about the beauties of\u00a0the city, it is not by chance that he brings for\u00a0 the new invasion portraits of Theodora and Justinian,\u00a0doves, saplings identical to those of some city gardens.\u00a0Also the work that was officially commissioned by local administration, which is placed at the\u00a0entrance of Mar, recalls the magical starry sky of\u00a0Galla Placidia<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-1529-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-1529-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-1529-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" >\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><div style='display:none;' class='shareaholic-canvas' data-app='share_buttons' data-title='' data-link='' data-app-id='22196413'><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wave I\u00a0&#8220;Look at there, what&#8217;s that?&#8221;\u00a0&#8220;&#8230; don&#8217;t know!
